Memory Woodford (the founder of C.A.T.) has been involved with feeding and sterilising stray and feral street cats/kittens since 1995. She has appeared in the You Magazine and is a dedicated animal lover. Memory goes into dark and dangerous areas in and around Cape Town to feed and trap hungry unwanted and unloved street cats and kittens. The demand for sterislisation is always great and every week we are finding more and more pregnant cats and kittens. The kittens are sick and starving with stunted growth due to their constant battle to survive. Cat Action Team is a registered, non-profit animal welfare organisation working on a voluntary basis for the sterilisation, vaccination and feeding of abused and abandon street cats. We replace the adult cats in the same area, which is relatively safe, and remove the kittens if possible. Rosemary is our foster mother who has fostered over 50 street cats and kittens. She nurses them back to health, feeds and tames them. We desperately need to find good homes for the little kittens and adult cats. We feed over 100 cats daily and needless to say our cat food bill is very high. We need help, financial and physical support in our endeavour to carry on the work we do. We need food donations, traps, transport, street collectors and hands-on assistance. Our main concern at the moment is to sterilise as many cats as we can as our cat population has trebled. We need to do a sterilisation marathon. We need to borrow cat traps, as many as possible and volunteers to help Memory trap. We also need to find Vets who would be able to do the sterilisation for free or for a small fee. Cat Action Team is taking responsibility for the sterilisation and care of these sad and broken specimens of society’s cruelty and neglect.
