The
challenge facing all animal welfare organizations is how
to get these educational messages to effectively reach
into the disadvantaged communities.” KAWS had an idea.
Why not handpick 8 keen youngsters and educate them in all
aspects of basic pet care and the ‘rewards and praise’ method
of dog training? Thus with the whole-hearted support of Kleinmond
veterinarian, Dr Peter Dave, and Betty’s Bay businessman,
Etienne Thomas, the KAWS Kadets programme was born! Read

Our aim is to have one volunteer for every street in underprivileged
areas...getting to know the people, advising them on animal
care, promoting the need for sterilising
animals, organizing kennels for dogs without shelter and generally helping
the animals there.
To start you would get on the job training by assisting Yvonne or Estelle until
you're ready to go on your own in your own time!

Your
Membership And Other Donations Help With The Following...
- KAWS Sterilisation Project
Locating and educating the owners of unsterilized animals, collecting
the subsidised fee, transporting the animal to and from the vet
and removing stitches in follow-up checks.
- KAWS Community Clinics
Providing accessible and affordable primary health care,
aided by SAVA.
- Fieldwork Treatments
Thankfully our present KAWS volunteer fieldworkers donate
all their transport costs, so only the balance of costs
for dips and deworming etc. apply.
- Foster Care For Animals
In Need Of New Homes
KAWS provides the food and where necessary, sterilizes
the animals while in foster care. Read how to join

Become A Clinic helper
Each second Wednesday afternoon there's a KAWS CLINIC in Proteadorp. There is
an attending vet, but we need volunteers to dip dogs, fill in cards, take money,
and book spays etc.
Its a very rewarding afternoon.

KAWS Is Also In Need Of
- Old Kennels And Timber
so volunteers
can make kennels for dogs who would otherwise spend their
days and nights without shelter!
- Jumble
anything that we can sell to raise funds ... just ring 083 516 5535
and we'll collect!
- Foster Homes
for cats, dogs or puppies, giving us time to find them homes rather
than putting them down!
- Donations
... or why not remember KAWS in your will?? Such a bequest will ensure
